Part 1 — Introduction
- Please welcome the Klayr (KLY) Team represented by Lukas Bronsvoort (CEO) and Jurre Machielsen (CCO). Please introduce yourself to our community and tell us a bit about yourself and the team behind Klayr (KLY).
Lukas is the CEO of Klayr Labs, a Layer 1 web3 startup with a mission to bring digital ownership to more people. He leads the Dutch company that oversees and maintains the layer-one blockchain formerly known as Lisk.
Jurre is the CCO of Klayr Labs. His role at the Dutch company is to identify key partnerships and initiatives for the Dutch business ecosystem that can benefit specifically from integrating blockchain and web3 technologies.
I’m Raphael, the CPO of Klayr Labs. My role at Klayr is to oversee the creation and expansion of products, services, and toolkits built for and on the Klayr Layer 1 blockchain.
- Please provide our audience with a brief summation of the project, What problems does Klayr (KLY) aim to solve? And what have you set out to accomplish?
Despite the pivotal role of digital ownership in tomorrow’s tech, we still don’t see Web3 use cases in our day-to-day lives. For many people, Web3 can feel like an elusive, overly technical concept, but we want to change that, and that’s why we started Klayr, Web3 for a new generation.
In a nutshell: Klayr makes building a blockchain super easy and fast. By doing that, Klayr provides endless flexibility for builders, by taking away the technical dependency of building on an existing blockchain. And all of that in Javascript, opening up the world of blockchain to the largest developer community in the world.
- What is the utility of the KLY token, and what are its key features?
As we are a Layer 1 blockchain, KLY is a utility token that first and foremost serves as a way to secure the network, with a total supply of 183m tokens. By providing rewards to validators via a Proof of Stake consensus mechanism, we facilitate decentralization and security for all of the token-holders and developers in our ecosystem. It also serves as the way to pay transaction fees throughout the whole network / ecosystem.
- Can you share some details about the KLY plan and the core principles of the project?
Klayr’s mission is to bring digital ownership to life by empowering JavaScript developers to build their own custom blockchain apps.
Klayr originates from the Lisk Layer 1. We have taken over their technology at the beginning of this year, which means that we have proven, rock-solid technology that’s thoroughly audited. Klayr is built on top of that as a community-driven, thriving ecosystem by focusing on Web3 developers that are looking for ways to easily and efficiently innovate. Our core principle is that our technology offers the possibility to experiment with blockchain technology on a whole new level. Every javascript programmer can build a blockchain with 3 lines of code; experimentation drives innovation.
- What unique aspects of KLY set it apart from other projects?
We are an interoperable sidechain application platform, which is completely built with Javascript. We differentiate ourselves from other platforms by providing real ease and speed of building, specifically through our modular approach. This means that almost any programmer with a bit of Javascript experience can build a blockchain in under five minutes. With the great benefit that you don’t have to worry about the dependencies of the blockchain you are building on, you can tailor it exactly to your needs.
- What does the KLY roadmap look like? What are your major goals for this year and beyond?
Now that we have successfully rebranded Lisk’s Layer 1 technology as Klayr, we are focusing on igniting growth by making our platform even more attractive for developers to build upon.
Firstly, we will launch the new Klayr Explorer in three phases, gradually adding features based on community feedback. Alongside this, we’ll introduce the Klayr Gateway, a more modular service for easier integration with future applications.
In addition to that, we will transition from our own wallet solution that we have today, to the MetaMask Snaps wallet for enhanced user experience and accessibility. These functionalities will all come together in a central point of entry for the Klayr Platform, which will integrate the new explorer and wallet with features like token minting and on-chain trading. Additionally, we’re researching WASM contracts and a Cross-Chain Bridge Module.
Part 2 — Twitter Questions
Question 1 is from @ / jimmy_89063 who asks:
To what extent is the project decentralized? Are there plans for community governance, and how can $KLY holders participate in decision-making processes?
Answer:
The network is secured through the Proof of Stake consensus algorithm, which decentralizes the system and allows users to participate in its security while earning rewards from staking. We actively involve the community in decision-making, and while this is currently off-chain, we plan to introduce a DAO in the future to further engage them in shaping the ecosystem’s development.
Question 2 is from @ / bullishcasper who asks:
Why did you decide to build your platform as a L1 blockchain instead of an L2 that will scale on Ethereum which will be easier to onboard developers and more users?
Answer:
We believe that the Web3 industry is still in its early days, and that we need to foster innovation. Innovation needs diversity, and that’s why we believe that the industry will profit from having different L1’s and L2’s that can cater to specific needs. The strength of Klayr as an L1 emphasizes exactly that by giving builders great freedom and flexibility in building a blockchain that suits their needs perfectly, instead of being dependent on an existing chain.
We do understand that the majority of the users are in the ETH ecosystem today, and that’s why we believe in connecting our technology, through the integration of Metamask and an EVM bridge.
Question 3 is from @ / hardmaku who asks:
There is always competition in blockchain technology. How does KLY plan to be at the forefront of its innovative features? What if in the years to come, the entire market collapsed due to lack of demand or strict regulations, how would your ecosystem survive?
Answer:
The advantage of Klayr is that the largest group of worldwide developers, javascript developers, can build a whole blockchain from scratch with only 3 lines of code.
They can use their preferred accessible tech stack to build a website, an app and the whole blockchain logic. That’s not possible with most other stacks.
And in the end blockchain is a means to an end, which means that the solutions need to provide some real world functionality to users. In a lot of cases it would not matter what the ‘markets’ do and that regulations come, if there is a use case it will survive.
And because Klayr is so easy to build, it makes it easy to experiment with, and that will allow our community to build a lot of use cases very quickly.
Question 4 is from @ / JMikecryp who asks:
Klayr’s community engagement appears to be a critical component of its ecosystem. How does Klayr foster a dynamic global community of developers, and what initiatives or programs are in place to encourage collaboration, innovation, and the widespread adoption of Klayr’s technology among creators and developers?
Answer:
Our current grant program is focused on attracting essential apps that every ecosystem needs, like DEXs and marketplaces. We already have the first community project live, which is Adamant Messenger, a messaging app that also serves as a non-custodial mobile wallet. The grant program funds all originate from our community fund, which is called the The Klayr Ecosystem Growth Fund (EGF).
Very soon, we’ll be rolling out the next phase of the program, targeting individual Web3 developers. This upcoming version will prioritize innovation, offering incentives for developers to experiment and push boundaries, with less emphasis on specific applications. Additionally, we have a validator support program to offer aspiring validators the opportunity to get a head start with Klayr
Question 5 is from @ / Mikazuki1710 who asks:
The Klayr project is still in its early stages, so having an active community is important and necessary. So my question is what have you done in regards to building your community, are there any ambassador or referral programs or airdrop, and how can one get involved?
Answer:
Having an active and engaging community is essential. Up until now, we’ve run campaigns/contests, created educational content, hosted X Spaces, and more to increase the size of the community. Our community is highly knowledgeable, active on Discord, and always ready to assist new builders joining us. This welcoming attitude and direct technical support are incredibly valuable for developers starting out in our ecosystem. Additionally, we are exploring ambassador programs to help grow our community — so stay tuned to our socials for more updates.
